DESCRIPTION:

    glycomet GP contains two oral antihyperglycemic drugs used in the management of type 2 diabetes: metformin hydrochloride & glimepiride. glycomet GP is used as an adjunct to diet & exercise improve glycemic control in patients with type2 diabetes who are already treatment in combination with metformin & glimepiride or whose diabetes is not adequately controlled with metformin alone.


 INDICATION:



   Get emergency medical help if you have any those symptoms: weakness increasing sleepiness, slow heart rate, muscle pain, cold feeling, shortness of breath, stomach pain, feeling light-headed. You may have hypoglycemia if you have skip meal, exercise too long, drinking alcohol. Talk to your doctor about the risk &benefit in the treatment of diabetes with GLYCOMET GP.


CONTRAINDICATION:



   Do not take GLYCOMET GP if you:

  • have a condition called diabetic ketoacidosis. Diabetic ketoacidosis should be treated with insulin.
  • are allergic to metformin or glimepiride or other sulfonylureas(medicines used to lower your blood sugar such as glibenclamide )or sulfonamides(medicines for bacterial infections such as sulfamethoxazole) or any of the other ingredients of GLYCOMET GP.
  • have kidney problems.
  • have liver problems.
  • have heart failure that is treated with medicines, such as Lanoxin (digoxin) or Lasix(furosemide)
  • drink a lot of alcohol.
  • are seriously dehydrated
  • develop a serious condition such as heart attack, several infections, or stock
have insulin-dependent diabetes(type 1 diabetes mellitus)

WARNINGS / PRECAUTIONS :


Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you have :

  • a history of heart attack or stocks.
  • liver disease.
  • Kidney disease.
  • are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
  • are breastfeeding.
if you need to have any type of x-ray or CT scan using a dye that is injected into your veins or going to get operated, you may need to temporarily stop taking GLYCOMET GP.

DRUG INTERACTION:

      You may be more likely to have hyperglycemia(high blood sugar)if you are taking GLYCOMET GP with other drugs that raise blood sugar.
      You may be more likely to have hypoglycemia(low blood sugar)if you are taking GLYCOMET GP with other drugs that lower blood sugar.
       Tell your doctor if you used any of the such drugs: nifedipine, cimetidine, amiloride, digoxin.
  

DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION :

                         One tablet daily in empty stomach.But glycomet GP take exactly as prescribed. Do not take large or small quantity or take it longer than recommended by your doctor. Your doctor may need to change the dose to control your blood sugar level.

  • CVS
  • Low Blood Sugar(hypoglycemia)
Some Times Common Side Effect:cold-like symptoms, headache, urinary tract infections, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, arm or leg pain.
